Provider and contracting party
Cinevaris is a trade name used by John Hanninen to offer the service as an unincorporated sole proprietorship. The sole proprietorship has no legal existence separate from its owner and is not a limited liability company or corporation. In these terms, "Cinevaris," "we," "us," and "operator" mean John Hanninen, doing business as Cinevaris, and any successor business that assumes these terms and the related service obligations.
Use of the Cinevaris trade name does not create a separate legal entity or liability shield. Until a successor entity assumes these terms, the rights and obligations described here belong to the individual operator.
Legal notices concerning these terms may be sent to the support address listed below. The public trade name, payment descriptor, support identity, and business records should be read together as identifying the same independent operation.
Eligibility and authority
By creating an account, affirmatively accepting these terms, purchasing a subscription, or using the account service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account, purchase, or use the account service.
You must be at least 18 years old or the age of legal majority where you live and able to enter a binding contract to create a paid account. Cinevaris is not directed to children under 13.
If you use Cinevaris for a company, production, school, or other organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these terms for that organization. You remain responsible for activity performed through your account.
Accounts and access
Account access may depend on authentication, subscription status, and desktop device activation status.
Provide accurate account information, keep the account email current, and promptly contact support if you believe an account, session, or device has been accessed without permission. You are responsible for activity through your account until Cinevaris has a reasonable opportunity to act on that notice.
You may not share accounts, bypass account or device checks, remove access controls, interfere with the website, or attempt to access restricted areas without permission.
You may not sell, rent, transfer, or falsely register an account, use another person's account without permission, or create accounts through deceptive or automated means.
Cinevaris may limit, suspend, or remove access if an account, payment method, device activation, or request pattern appears to violate these terms, create security risk, abuse billing systems, or harm the service.
Privacy and optional product analytics
The Privacy Policy describes how Cinevaris handles personal information. Account, authentication, subscription, entitlement, support, security, abuse-prevention, and service-reliability records are processed separately as needed to provide or protect Cinevaris and are not controlled by the Optional product analytics setting.
Optional product analytics is not required to use Cinevaris and is off by default. Accepting these terms, creating an account, purchasing a subscription, or continuing to use Cinevaris does not enable it. You may enable or disable it in app Preferences. Disabling it stops future optional product event sends immediately, but does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful or stop processing based on another valid legal basis.
When enabled, Optional product analytics sends only fixed content-free app events and a random ephemeral app-session identifier, not your Cinevaris account ID or creative content. Because the service also receives bounded network and browser metadata, the event stream is account-free and pseudonymous rather than guaranteed anonymous. Raw optional product events are automatically deleted when they are older than 90 days. The Privacy Policy provides the detailed data map and retention terms.
Subscriptions and billing
Paid Early Access is a recurring subscription billed through a payment processor. The price, billing interval, renewal timing, any Stripe-backed trial terms, and material plan terms are shown before checkout. The subscription renews automatically at the disclosed interval until canceled.
By confirming checkout, you authorize the recurring charges shown at checkout, including applicable taxes that Cinevaris is required to collect, until you cancel. Cinevaris does not store full payment-card details.
Checkout requires a separate affirmative acknowledgment of the recurring price, billing interval, renewal, cancellation method, and applicable legal version. Cinevaris keeps the consent record, and the account dashboard provides a retainable subscription acknowledgment.
Payments are non-refundable after they are processed, including unused time after cancellation, except where required by law or where Cinevaris confirms a duplicate, incorrect, or unresolved access charge.
Cancel before the next renewal through the account dashboard or Stripe billing portal to stop future charges. Online subscribers can cancel online without being required to contact support or accept a retention offer. If the normal cancellation control is unavailable, contact support from the account email before renewal and clearly request cancellation. Unless otherwise stated, access remains available until the end of the paid billing period.
Price changes apply prospectively. Cinevaris will provide reasonable advance notice of a subscription price increase before it affects a future renewal, allowing you to cancel before the new price is charged.
If Cinevaris permanently discontinues paid access during a period you already paid for and the loss is not caused by your breach, Cinevaris will provide continued access for that period, a substantially equivalent remedy, or a prorated refund as appropriate and required by law.
The billing portal may show exact payment, tax, proration, renewal, card, receipt, and invoice details before or after confirmation depending on the action being taken.
Trials, promotions, failed payments, and taxes
A trial, introductory offer, coupon, or promotion is governed by the eligibility, duration, price, conversion date, and other terms shown when it is offered. Unless checkout says otherwise, a trial connected to a paid subscription converts to the disclosed recurring price when the trial ends. Cancel before that conversion date to avoid the first paid charge.
Promotions may be limited to eligible accounts, may not be combined, and may be changed or withdrawn prospectively. Creating multiple accounts or using misleading information to obtain repeated trial or promotional access is prohibited.
If a charge fails, Stripe or Cinevaris may retry it as permitted by the payment method and applicable rules. Cinevaris may restrict paid access while an amount is overdue, but will not add an undisclosed late fee. You remain responsible for keeping an accepted payment method current and for charges you validly authorized.
Displayed prices may exclude taxes unless checkout says otherwise. Cinevaris will collect taxes it is required to collect. You are responsible for other taxes, duties, or government charges imposed on your purchase, excluding taxes based on Cinevaris income.
Contact support before starting a payment dispute when practical so Cinevaris can investigate an access, duplicate-charge, cancellation, or billing error. Nothing in these terms limits a lawful chargeback, card-network right, or non-waivable consumer remedy.
Cancellation, account deletion, and exports
Canceling the subscription stops future renewals as described above but does not automatically delete the account or its records. Signed-in customers can separately delete their account from the website dashboard after confirming the permanent action with their current password and, when enrolled, multi-factor verification.
When self-service account deletion completes successfully, it cancels active Cinevaris subscriptions before removing the sign-in account, account-owned preferences, device access, and encrypted recovery copies. Export important projects and documents first. Local files and exports remain on your devices until you delete them there.
Deletion is a multi-step operation. If a later deletion step fails after billing is canceled, the subscription may remain canceled while the account remains available. Retry from the dashboard or contact support to complete the remaining deletion steps; Cinevaris will not restart a canceled subscription merely because deletion was incomplete.
Billing, tax, fraud-prevention, security, chargeback, support, and dispute records may be retained where reasonably needed or legally required after access or other account data is removed.
Use of Cinevaris
You may use Cinevaris for lawful film, animation, game, and production work in accordance with your subscription and any usage limits shown in the product.
You are responsible for your projects, creative decisions, production materials, account credentials, device access, and the people who access your account.
Devices and app access
Subscription access may create desktop activation records connected to your account. These records help decide whether the desktop app can use account-based features.
You are responsible for keeping account credentials private. Device activations may be removed from the dashboard when you no longer want a device associated with the account.
Activation records, account checks, and subscription checks are access-control systems. Do not tamper with, reverse engineer, disable, or route around those controls.
Software license and restrictions
While your account has eligible access, Cinevaris grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to use the executable software and website for your own lawful personal, professional, educational, or organizational production work. This is a license to use Cinevaris, not a sale of the software or its intellectual property.
Except where applicable law expressly permits it, you may not copy the software beyond a reasonable backup, modify or create derivative software from it, distribute it, sell it, rent it, lease it, sublicense it, provide it as a hosted service, extract source code, defeat technical protections, or use it to build a competing copy of protected Cinevaris expression or code.
Nothing in these terms restricts interoperability, security research, reverse engineering, or other activity that applicable law does not allow a contract to prohibit. Responsible security research must avoid accessing other users' data, disrupting the service, or exceeding the permission needed to demonstrate the issue.
Cinevaris may provide updates, patches, or replacement versions. Continued compatibility may require a supported browser, operating system, app update, or security update, and older versions may stop connecting to account services when reasonably necessary for security or compatibility.
Acceptable use
Do not use Cinevaris to break the law, attack infrastructure, reverse engineer access controls, misuse billing systems, scrape private data, interfere with other users, or send illegal, harmful, or unrelated material through support channels.
Do not abuse refunds, chargebacks, trial access, promotions, device activations, rate limits, restricted routes, or security reports.
Do not upload or send passwords, private keys, full payment card numbers, unrelated personal data, or confidential third-party materials through support unless support specifically requests a safe way to provide them.
Your content and project ownership
You keep ownership of your own creative projects, local files, production materials, scripts, scene data, rendered outputs, and other work you create with or around Cinevaris.
You are responsible for having the rights, permissions, releases, licenses, and approvals needed for materials you use in your projects or send to support.
You represent that your content and your use of it through Cinevaris do not violate applicable law or another person's copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, confidentiality, contractual, or other rights. Cinevaris does not acquire or independently verify those production rights for you.
You give Cinevaris a limited, non-exclusive permission to host, copy, process, transmit, and recover account-linked project data and related metadata only as needed to provide, secure, troubleshoot, or support the features you use, comply with law, or carry out a request you make. This permission does not allow Cinevaris to publish or sell your project content.
That permission ends when it is no longer reasonably needed to provide the service or after successful account deletion, except for access-restricted backups awaiting rotation, records retained for security or legal claims, legal obligations, and any separate permission you give.
Account-linked project data is private by default and is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. Cinevaris does not routinely monitor creative content, but may preserve, restrict, remove, or disclose particular data when reasonably necessary to respond to a valid legal process, protect the service or another person, investigate abuse, or enforce these terms, subject to applicable law.
If you send information to support, you give Cinevaris permission to use that information only as needed to investigate, respond to, document, or resolve the request.
Automated estimates and generated materials
Cinevaris can calculate, organize, or generate page counts, scene data, shoot-day estimates, breakdowns, schedules, production risks, reports, packages, exports, and other materials from project data and deterministic or heuristic rules. These outputs may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect and are working aids rather than factual guarantees or professional advice.
Review source material and verify every generated estimate, report, schedule, warning, and production document before relying on it. You remain responsible for budgets, labor rules, union or guild requirements, permits, insurance, contracts, safety, weather, travel, payroll, tax, legal compliance, and final production decisions.
Editing a script, project, preference, assumption, or production record may change later outputs. Cinevaris does not guarantee that independently exported documents will update after the underlying project changes.
Cinevaris ownership
Cinevaris, the website, desktop application, product names, logos, interface, source code, documentation, copy, design, license systems, and related materials are owned by the Cinevaris operator or its licensors.
These terms do not give you ownership of Cinevaris itself. They give you permission to use Cinevaris according to your subscription, license, and these terms.
Cinevaris-provided starter projects, templates, sample text, interface examples, and reference materials remain Cinevaris or third-party materials unless they are clearly identified as yours or licensed on different terms. You may use outputs created from them only within the scope shown in the product or accompanying notice.
Copyright complaints and repeat infringement
A copyright owner or authorized representative may send a claimed-infringement notice to support@cinevaris.com. Include a signature; identification of the copyrighted work; identification and location of the material at issue; contact information; a good-faith statement that the disputed use is not authorized; and a statement under penalty of perjury that the notice is accurate and you are authorized to act.
A counter-notice should include a signature; identification of the removed or restricted material and its prior location; a statement under penalty of perjury that removal or restriction resulted from mistake or misidentification; the sender's name, address, and telephone number; consent to the jurisdiction required by applicable copyright law; and consent to accept service of process from the complaining party or its agent.
Cinevaris may request missing information, preserve relevant records, restrict access to identified material, notify the affected account holder, forward a notice or counter-notice as permitted by law, and restore access when legally appropriate. Knowingly sending a materially false notice or response may create legal liability.
Cinevaris may suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly infringe intellectual-property rights when appropriate. This section does not promise that Cinevaris can inspect encrypted project content or establish that every complaint is valid.
Feedback and suggestions
If you voluntarily send product feedback, bug reports, workflow suggestions, or feature ideas, you allow Cinevaris to use, modify, and incorporate that feedback without payment or obligation to you. This permission does not transfer ownership of your scripts, project files, characters, story material, production documents, or other creative content.
Do not submit confidential third-party information as feedback unless you have permission to do so and clearly identify any handling restriction before submission.
Honest reviews
You may publish an honest review, rating, criticism, or other assessment of Cinevaris or its support. Cinevaris will not impose a penalty merely because a review is negative, and the feedback permission above does not transfer ownership of a review that you publish independently.
This does not authorize disclosure of another person's private information, Cinevaris trade secrets, unlawful threats, harassment, defamation, or content unrelated to a genuine product or support experience.
Third-party services
Cinevaris relies on third-party services such as Stripe for billing and Supabase for authentication and account infrastructure. Your use of those services may also be subject to their terms and privacy practices.
Cinevaris is not responsible for a third-party service outage or action outside the operator's reasonable control, but Cinevaris remains responsible for its own obligations under these terms and applicable law.
Open-source and third-party components
Cinevaris includes open-source and third-party software. Those components may be governed by separate license terms that apply directly to them, and nothing in these terms limits rights granted by an applicable open-source license.
Required copyright and license notices are distributed with the applicable software or made available through Cinevaris records. Third-party names and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners and do not imply endorsement.
Export controls and sanctions
You may not access, use, export, reexport, transfer, or make Cinevaris available in violation of applicable export-control, trade-sanctions, or import laws. Cinevaris may restrict access where reasonably necessary to comply with those laws or a binding government requirement.
Cinevaris is not represented as available or legally suitable in every country or territory. You are responsible for determining whether your use is lawful where you are located and where you make the software or its outputs available.
Early Access, availability, and warranties
Cinevaris Paid Early Access is prerelease software. It has no predetermined program end date, but a subscription does not guarantee that every feature or the service itself will remain available indefinitely. Features may change, move, be interrupted, or contain defects, and no service-level agreement, minimum uptime, performance level, or support response time is promised.
Do not purchase or use Cinevaris in reliance on a roadmap, planned feature, expected integration, future platform, or statement about possible later development. Your purchase is for the functionality made available during your eligible subscription.
Cinevaris is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cinevaris disclaims all express, implied, and statutory warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and any warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.
Keep independent backups and exports of important project material. Cinevaris is not designed or authorized to be the sole system for emergency, safety-critical, legal-compliance, payroll, or on-set safety decisions.
The software is provided for production assistance and organization. It does not replace professional judgment, legal review, production safety review, union or guild compliance review, location review, budget review, insurance review, technical supervision, or final creative approval.
Suspension, termination, and survival
You may stop using Cinevaris at any time and may cancel recurring billing as described above. Cinevaris may suspend or terminate access for nonpayment, material breach, fraud, security risk, unlawful conduct, or abuse of the service, using proportionate notice when reasonably possible.
If Cinevaris terminates paid access during a prepaid period for reasons other than your breach, fraud, security risk, unlawful conduct, or abuse, the discontinuation remedy in the Subscriptions and billing section applies.
Provisions concerning billing records, ownership, feedback, warranty disclaimers, liability limits, disputes, and obligations that by their nature should continue will survive cancellation or termination.
Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Cinevaris and its operator from a third-party claim, damage, or reasonable cost arising from your unlawful content, your infringement of another person's rights, your intentional misuse of the service, or your material breach of these terms.
This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim results from Cinevaris misconduct or breach. Cinevaris will provide reasonable notice of a covered claim and allow you reasonable participation in the defense. You may not settle a claim in a way that admits fault by or imposes an obligation on Cinevaris without written consent.
Some jurisdictions limit consumer indemnity obligations. This section applies only to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law and does not remove any non-waivable consumer right.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cinevaris, its operator, and its service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, goodwill, business opportunities, production time, or the cost of substitute services arising from or related to Cinevaris.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the total aggregate liability of Cinevaris and its operator for all claims arising from or related to the service or these terms will not exceed the greater of 100 U.S. dollars or the total amount you paid Cinevaris for the service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
These exclusions and limits apply across contract, tort, strict liability, statute, and other legal theories, even if a limited remedy fails of its essential purpose or a party was advised that a loss was possible. They are an agreed allocation of risk and do not create a legal entity or liability shield for the sole proprietor.
These exclusions and limits do not apply where liability cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including where applicable liability arising from fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or personal injury caused by negligence. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers or liability limits, so some of these terms may not apply to you.
Electronic communications
You agree that Cinevaris may send account, receipt, billing, cancellation, security, support, policy-change, and other service communications electronically using the contact information associated with your account. Keep that information current.
Cinevaris may provide a service or legal notice by email, dashboard notice, in-product notice, or a prominent website notice when that method is reasonable for the notice. Notices you send under these terms should be directed to the support address and are received when they reach the monitored support system.
Marketing communications, if introduced, will be handled separately from required service messages and will include any opt-out required by applicable law.
Changes to these terms
Cinevaris may update these terms as the service, business structure, providers, or legal obligations change. The current version and last-updated date appear on this page. Material changes will be communicated through a reasonable service notice, account notice, or email before they take effect when appropriate.
Changes do not retroactively alter a completed charge. Continuing to use Cinevaris after updated terms take effect constitutes acceptance only where permitted by law. Where affirmative consent is legally required, continued use alone will not replace it. If you do not agree, stop using the service and cancel before the next renewal.
Disputes and applicable law
These terms are governed by applicable law. Nothing in these terms limits any consumer protection or other right that cannot legally be waived.
Before filing a claim, each side agrees to send written notice describing the issue and to attempt a good-faith informal resolution for 30 days. This does not prevent either side from seeking urgent injunctive relief, using an eligible small-claims process, meeting a legal filing deadline, or exercising a non-waivable consumer right.
Any court or tribunal must have lawful personal and subject-matter jurisdiction over the parties and claim. These terms do not require private arbitration, waive a class remedy, or force a consumer into a forum that applicable law does not permit.
General terms and successor business
These terms, the Privacy Policy, the checkout disclosures, and any plan-specific terms shown at purchase form the agreement concerning Cinevaris and replace prior statements about the same subject. Checkout terms control the exact price, billing interval, trial, and renewal presented for that purchase; these terms control general service use; and the Privacy Policy controls how personal information is handled.
If a provision is unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum lawful extent and the remaining provisions remain in effect. A failure or delay in enforcing a provision is not a waiver. Section headings are for convenience and do not change meaning.
You may not transfer your account or these terms without permission. The Cinevaris operator may assign these terms, subscription obligations, and related service records to a successor company, including a later-formed limited liability company, as part of forming, reorganizing, financing, or transferring the business, provided the successor assumes the applicable obligations and users receive reasonable notice of a material identity change.
These terms do not create an employment, agency, partnership, franchise, fiduciary, or joint-venture relationship between you and Cinevaris. Except for permitted successors and the parties expressly protected by a provision, no other person receives a right to enforce these terms.
Neither side is responsible for delay caused by events beyond reasonable control, but this does not excuse payment obligations already incurred or rights that cannot legally be limited.

Support is provided through the support contact listed on the website. Response times may vary because Cinevaris is currently a small independent operation.
Billing, account access, device activation, and security issues are the highest-priority support categories.
